FnF Grappling Smokers (11/22/2008)

I just want to say congrats to all who went to the smokers on Saturday! (Josiah, me, Eldin, and Mike). Everyone did well, and we certainly represented our team very well. I'm sorry for not having the videos up yet. I'm trying to find a video editing program that will let me cut the video up into it separate fights. Does iMovie do that too, Jim, or do you use another program?

Team logo?

Hi:

I found an old picture that I drew a while back, and I thought it would make a cool team logo. Any suggestions about the pic or possible background would be cool.

BTW, I've tried to call the Gracie Academy, but I keep getting the voice mail. I'll keep calling until 5pm, and update if neccessary.

Alternative Training Site

Hi, my fellow grappling teammates!

I have called the Gracie Academy at Concord yesterday, and I was told they had open mat night tomorrow (Fri., 8/9) at 6 p.m. It's pretty useful for those who are competing in the Gracie Open, because most of the grapplers in there are at a high level. I tried calling today for confirmation and if there was a walk-in cost, but I only got the answering machine. I'll try to contact them tomorrow for more info, so be ready for an update!

Capital City Challenge

UPDATE:

It's decided that I will pay for everyone. Please bring in $50 tonight, and I'll make a list for your name, DOB, and hometown.

You will not get signed up if you do not pay me first.

Thanks!

Hi:

I got an email back from the webmaster on trackwrestling.com, telling me that each person can sign up and pay individually. However, I tried to figure out how that would work on the website, but I couldn't do it. I was hoping maybe Jim or somebody else would have a better chance of figuring it out. If not, then I will go with the original plan, which was signing up anybody who would want to participate, collecting the money tomorrow (on Weds. 5/7). Just in case nobody can figure it out, please email me your first and last name, your hometown, and your date of birth. I will register everybody tomorrow or Thurs., and pay on Thurs.

My email is supra411@hotmail.com, and the cost to participate is $50.

Thanks.

Gracie Invitational info

EDIT: The original link that I posted on Monday (the previous post) for the sign up was wrong. I had to re-register on the graciefighter.com website. If you signed up w/ the wrong link (the right registration page should say "Gracie Invitational" on the top), re-register. I called Gracie's gym, and I was told that you won't be charged if you signed up in the wrong registration page.

This page contains new info and a link for registration. Seems to be only Gi-Less for adults, which should make things go much faster than last time.

Gracie Registration is working!

EDIT: The original link for the sign up was wrong. I had to re-register on the graciefighter.com website. If you signed up w/ the wrong link (the right registration page should say "Gracie Invitational" on the top), re-register. I called Gracie's gym, and I was told that you won't be charged if you signed up in the wrong registration page.

Finally! I called Gracie's gym, and apparently they are still having the tourney this Sat (on the 26th). However, the schedule during the day has changed. The changes has been made on the graciefighter.com website. Here's the link for online registration.

I hope to see most of the team there.

This is a good example of someone fighting for the " Mata Leon" choke during a live match. Matt Serra V Takanori Gomi I believe circa 2000 at ADCC: Pay close attached at about 2:30 onward as Serra Battles unitl he finds his spot.

Unlimited Kickboxing's Thread

The thread on the mma.tv Underground Forum about the open mat challenge last weekend at Unlimited Kickboxing.

Dan Henderson on Anderson Silva

Pacific Ring Sports MMA Blog

Now that we've had a consistent crew together for awhile, it's feeling like we're a team instead of just a bunch of guys who train together. And since we have some videos and photos from last weekend's open mat challenge in Milpitas, it seemed like a good idea to start a blog.

So feel free to post anything relevant. Some technique videos, MMA news, upcoming events or field trips, whatever.
