Battle of the Bay 2010

Hi, Everybody:

Congrats to Felix, Bryan, and ... me! I know you are anxious to know how we did. Felix placed 1st in his division. I placed 2nd in my division. Bryan placed third in the open division.

Me and Bryan did ok. Felix was the beast in the tourney, sinking in two armbars: one from mount, the other from the guard (this was his first grappling tourney). Watching him dominate his division has made me fearful of rolling with him! So extra congrats to Felix.

Yes folks, its like going to the Sircus to see the DTT/TD!!!

Come by Sunday at 11am for the usual friendly, agreed-upon format sparring and what-not. Learn ye some Sambo moves or we can work on our poppin&lockin until the big event at 2pm:

hate-fracking good times of DTT vs Sirc according to some sort of UFC-derivative rules-set that these queefs have agreed upon and I'll referee in professional and courteous fashion.

equipment: Prepare for what you'd like to spar in; such as headgear, gloves and padding if you'd like to stand-up sparring. Grapples-gear if you want to do combat grippling. Training weapons if that's your deal.

fee: a $10 mat fee is greatly appreciated, but not required.

As we build up a head-count we can figure out what everyone wants to do and prepare accordingly. My students will be there and you can get your asses kicked in all manner of ways.

Brazilian Jui Jitsu Bay Area open 2

Double Black Belt Seminar
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master Nino "Elvis" Schembri and Alexandre Novães will be conducting a seminar on Sunday, November 22. The seminar will be held in the Berekeley High School gymnasium just before the no-gi competition.

The seminar will be conducted from 9-11 am before the no-gi competition.


Seminar Registration
If you are a competitor of the Bay Area Open 2 (BAO2), the seminar fee is $50 if you pre-register or $70 if you decide to pay at the door the day of the seminar. All non-BAO2 competitors can pay $60 if they pre-register or $80 at the door.

All academies are invited to participate in the Bay Area Open 2 (BAO2) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament that will be held on December 12 and 13, 2009 in Berkeley, California. This event is a fundraiser to help support the Berkeley High School Wrestling Team and is sponsored by the Berkeley Athletic Fund (BAF), a non-profit organization. For more information regarding the BAF please visit www.berkeleyathleticfund.org.

The BAO2 will be a gi tournament on Saturday, December 12 and a no-gi tournament on Sunday, December 13. All competitors will get to compete in at least two matches and will receive a limited edition tournament t-shirt. Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each division.

After November 29, 2009

Registration closes on at 12:00 am on December 8, 2009. You will not be able to compete if your registration is not received by this date.
